http://merimages.zenfolio.com/p1016383546 I took a sequence of images of an eagle taking off and landing. When inspecting the images I noticed that as the eagle lands the feathers on top of their wing rise. I have no idea why, but my first thought is that this creates more surface area on top of the wing which provides more lift as the eagle slows during their landing approach.
